Pulitzer Prize Winner at South of Broadway Theatre
Although better known for his iconic Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolfe, this dark comedy is a masterpiece and generally considered to be Albee’s finest work.
Recently on Broadway with John Lithgow and Glenn Close, the New York Times calls it “An evening of theatrical fireworks.”
The New York Daily News referred to it as “Powerful…A beautiful play filled with humor and compassion, and touched with poetry…with the stature and eloquence of a classic.”
South of Broadway’s (SOBTC) version will star Lynda Harvey-Carter in the tour de force role of Agnes. Lynda has been seen most recently on our stage as “Sylvie” in The Nance, and Dinah in One Shoe Off. Daniel Hall Kuhn plays her longsuffering husband, Tobias. Daniel has also been seen at SOBTC in Burn This and as the canine obsessed Greg in Sylvia.
The roles of Harry and Edna are given beautifully nuanced performances by returning SOBTC actors, Fred DeJaco and Nancy Fiedler. SOBTC newcomer, the lovely Allison Arvay, plays four-times divorced, Julia to the hilt, and Linda Esposito performs the role of Claire as if Albee wrote it for her.
All in all this is one fireworks display you won’t want to miss!!!
