“The Piano Man and the Diva” starring Founder and Producer of SOBTC, Mary Gould and William R.(Bill) Lewis, NYC  Pianist/Singer/Arranger.  Bill and Mary will trash your last reservations about ‘classical’ musicians with their mayhem and magic as they romp through a program ranging from Pop to Opera, Musical Theatre….and more!!!

Mary Gould FB1 248x300 Start your New Year on a High Note!!Mary is no stranger to Charleston audiences having performed in concerts and opera at The Sottile, The Garden Theatre and at South of Broadway Theatre Company in North Charleston.  Audiences cried and laughed with her in portrayals of “Carmen” and Mimi in “La Boheme.”  Her career has encompassed New York City where she performed in upwards of 25 operatic roles, tours of England, Scotland’s Edinburgh Festival and South American tours to Rio and Sao Paulo, Brazil. Her repertoire ranges from Opera and Musical Theatre to folk songs and pop tunes she learned growing up in Brazil. She recently starred as Madeline Mitchell in the Jake Heggie opera (book by Terrence McNally) “Three Decembers” in Pittsburgh.

Bill Lewis 199x300 Start your New Year on a High Note!!Bill Lewis was a featured performer during South of Broadway’s “Celtic New Year” celebration at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center in January of 2013.  Bill resides in NYC where he has an eclectic and successful career as a pianist, coach, accompanist, arranger, recording artist, musical director, and conductor. For over forty-five years, Bill Lewis has performed throughout the U.S., Canada, Iceland, Brazil (with Mary Gould), China, Germany, Sicily, Austria, and the British Isles in venues such as the prestigious Wexford Festival in Ireland- with renowned singing artists such as Ronan Tynan, Marcello Giordani, Maureen O’Flynn, Victoria Livengood, Patti LaBelle, and others.

Bill and Mary have been working together since they met in NYC in 1983. This concert will pay homage to that long friendship, reprising both touching and hilarious moments from their careers, and includes a sizeable helping of irreverence, wit and laughter.
